What happens during ZOOM Teeth Whitening
Before and after a Zoom Teeth Whitening procedure at Leichhardt Dental CentreStep 1
Prior to your ZOOM Whitening, you will undergo a check-up and teeth cleaning to ensure that your teeth are clean and to rule out any oral health issues. Once you are ready for your treatment, you will be asked to lie back and relax in the chair and be given light-resistant glasses to place over your eyes.
Step 2
We will then cover your lips and gums to protect them from the whitening gel. Once your mouth is ready, the ZOOM whitening gel will be applied to your teeth and be activated with our ZOOM WhiteSpeed Blue LED Laser, which accelerates the whitening process as compared to other methods.
The whitening gel contains hydrogen peroxide, which oxidises under the LED Laser and lifts tooth stains without affecting the tooth structure.
Step 3
The Zoom whitening procedure takes about 45 minutes but is broken up into three 15-minute sessions. After each session, more whitening gel will be added to your teeth before the LED Laser is turned back on.
After you have completed the third session, a special fluoride gel is applied to your teeth to reduce sensitivity and help protect the enamel.
ZOOM Whitening Aftercare
After your appointment, we will guide you on what to expect in the coming weeks. We will provide you with a ZOOM Touch Up at-home use kit that contains custom teeth whitening trays. The teeth whitening trays are for you to use at home so you can maintain your new pearly white smile.
You will also be asked to stay away from smoking and foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as sodas, coffee, tea, chocolate, soy sauce, berries, beer and red wine. You can resume your normal diet after about a week.
We recommend making use of the sensitivity-reducing gel that we provide, as some patients may experience a minor increase in sensitivity after treatment, but this gel can help discomfort subside.
