Root Canal Treatment.

When decay or trauma reaches the pulp (nerve) of a tooth, the tooth can usually still be saved with root canal treatment. The infected pulp is carefully removed, the canals are cleaned and shaped, and the space is sealed with a biocompatible filling material. A crown is typically placed afterwards to protect the tooth long-term. Modern techniques — flexible nickel-titanium rotary files, rubber-dam isolation for sterility, and 3D CBCT scans to map the canal anatomy in advance — make the procedure considerably more predictable and comfortable than its reputation suggests. Most patients describe the procedure as no different to having a standard filling. Typical investment: $1,200–$1,800 depending on complexity. We aim to keep the complete Root Canal + CEREC Crown package below $4,000 — the rationale being that if saving your natural tooth costs more than replacing it with an implant, a different conversation is needed.

Process

How root canal treatment is delivered.

  1. Step 01

    Diagnosis & 3D scan

We confirm the infection with examination and (where the tooth is complex) a 3D CBCT scan that maps every canal before we begin — so the treatment plan and quote are fixed, not estimated.

  2. Step 02

    Visit 1 — clean & disinfect

Local anaesthetic, rubber dam isolation, and removal of the infected pulp. The canals are cleaned and shaped with rotary instruments. This visit relieves the pain caused by the infection.

  3. Step 03

    Visit 2 — seal

Once the canals are clean and the tooth is comfortable, the space is sealed with a biocompatible filling material.

  4. Step 04

    Crown protection

A same-day CEREC crown is typically placed to protect the tooth long-term — root-treated teeth are more brittle and benefit from full coverage.

Risks & considerations

Modern root canal treatment is generally safe and well-tolerated. Documented success rates are high but not absolute — complex cases, re-treatments, or unusual anatomy may be referred to an endodontic specialist. A tooth that has had root canal treatment is more brittle and benefits from a protective crown to reduce the risk of fracture.

All dental procedures carry potential risks and benefits. Individual results vary. A consultation with a registered dental practitioner is required to determine whether a treatment is suitable for you.
